Hi, I’m Ivonne.
Once upon a time…a little girl ran through the playground, jubilant that she could make her legs go faster and faster. She went to grade school, high school, college and then pursued her career, and her passion for reveling in what great things her body could do fell by the wayside. And then something happened in her 20s. She followed her brothers to the gym on a dare and fell in love with powerlifting and the feeling of lifting more, getting stronger, sweating.
And then as the years went by, the little girl who was now a woman, kept lifting and doing other things that made her feel healthy, fit and strong. Until one day, she reached her 40s and people started telling her to take it easy and that she was getting too old to do all those “crazy things.” For a while she thought, are they right? Am I too old now? But she knew other women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and even 70s and 80s who were still active, so how could that be?
The more she thought about it, the madder she got. She wasn’t too old! So she decided to form a community of like-minded women over 40 who shared her passion for health and fitness.
Women who take pride in lifting those heavy weights, participating in triathlons, swimming the English Channel, rock climbers, marathon runners, power lifters, distance swimmers, dancers, yogis and more, thumbing their noses at what society says older women can or should be doing.
Healthyandfitover40.com is dedicated to these women. A place that provides information, empowerment and support for women over 40 who want to lead a healthy and fit life.
